The original bathroom felt dark, dated, and closed-in. The finishes were worn, the layout lacked functionality, and the shower was cramped with aging tile and an old curtain instead of proper glass. The vanity offered minimal storage and the room lacked modern lighting, making the entire space feel heavy and uninspired. Overall, the bathroom needed a complete transformation to feel brighter, more spacious, and more aligned with a contemporary coastal home.
What We Did
1. Fully Rebuilt Shower With Emerald Tile
We removed the old shower entirely and constructed a new walk-in shower finished in rich green handcrafted-style tile. A built-in niche with metal trim was added for modern practicality and clean detailing.
2. Custom Glass Enclosure
The dated shower curtain and old framing were replaced with a new frameless glass enclosure featuring sleek brushed-nickel hardware and through-glass hinges for a seamless, airy look.
3. New Pony Wall With Quartz Cap
To improve layout and functionality, we built a pony wall between the vanity and shower, capped with polished quartz. This adds architectural definition while keeping the space visually open.
4. Updated Vanity With Warm Wood Cabinetry
We replaced the old vanity with a custom wood cabinet featuring modern slab drawers, soft-close hardware, and significantly more storage. The warm walnut tone adds natural richness to the room.
5. Polished Quartz Countertop & Backsplash
A new polished quartz countertop with a clean 4-inch backsplash was installed, offering durability and an elegant contrast to the green shower tile.
6. New Under-Mount Sink & Luxe Nickel Fixtures
We installed a sleek white under-mount sink paired with a widespread nickel faucet, updating both style and daily functionality.
7. Modern Lighting & Mirror
Outdated sconces were replaced with modern vertical wall lights that flank the new framed mirror, bringing balanced illumination to the vanity area.
8. Updated Flooring
The floor was replaced with mosaic penny tiles in deep blue-green tones that tie the entire palette together and complement the shower tile beautifully.
9. Soft Textured Wall Treatment
We finished the bathroom with a light, textured wall covering to brighten the space and add subtle sophistication without overpowering the bold shower.
10. Finishing Touches
A tall plant, coordinated accessories, and new towel bars complete the room with warmth and cohesion.
Result
The new bathroom feels fresh, modern, and spa-inspired. The combination of emerald tile, walnut cabinetry, quartz surfaces, and contemporary lighting creates a balanced, natural, and luxurious atmosphere — an impressive transformation from the dark, outdated original.
