This project involved a full-scale interior renovation, dramatically transforming a previously dated and inefficient home into a bright, modern, and open-concept living space. The design focused on achieving clean lines, a sophisticated neutral palette, and high-end finishes throughout the main living areas, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom to maximize both aesthetic appeal and daily comfort.
Before:
-
Closed Floor Plan: Separated, small rooms that restricted natural light and flow.
-
Dated Finishes: Old carpet or linoleum flooring, popcorn ceilings, and dark wall colors.
-
Old Fixtures: Outdated cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, and inefficient lighting (e.g., brass or yellow-toned lights).
-
Poor Functionality: Kitchen and bathroom were likely inefficient and lacked modern storage solutions.
What We Did:
The renovation encompassed structural changes and comprehensive cosmetic upgrades across the entire house:
1. Structural & Layout Modification
-
Wall Removal: Demolished non-load-bearing walls to create a cohesive open-concept flow between the living, dining, and kitchen areas.
-
Ceiling Refinishing: Removed old finish and introduced a striking design with exposed, painted wood beams in the main living/dining area, adding texture and height.
-
New Flooring: Installed consistent, large-format wood-look porcelain or ceramic tile flooring across all main areas and the bedroom, ensuring durability and visual continuity.
2. Gourmet Kitchen Overhaul
-
Cabinetry: Installed new, two-tone custom cabinetry—white uppers and warm, darker wood-tone lowers/island bases—with sleek, minimal hardware.
-
Island: Built an extra-long, multi-purpose Kitchen Island featuring a dark base, light countertop, and seating for multiple guests with modern black bar stools.
-
Finishes: Added a hexagonal tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, and sleek pendant lighting over the island.
3. Dining & Living Area Upgrades
-
Lighting: Installed recessed LED pot lights throughout and a statement spiky Sputnik-style chandelier over the glass-top dining table.
-
Architectural Features: Defined the living space with modern neutral paint, trim work, and new casings for a clean, contemporary look.
4. Master Suite Refresh
-
Bedroom: Installed a luxurious tufted, high wingback headboard and modern nightstands. The closet was fitted with full-height mirrored sliding doors to maximize light and space.
-
Bathroom: Installed a floating vanity in a stylish grey color with double sinks, quartz countertops, and a modern rectangular light bar. Features include a glass-enclosed shower and modern plumbing fixtures.
The Result: Modern, Bright, and Unified
The home is now unrecognizable, showcasing a refined, contemporary aesthetic with an exceptional open flow. The use of light wood flooring, a neutral grey and white color scheme, and abundant recessed lighting creates a bright, airy, and sophisticated atmosphere. The functional improvements, especially the large kitchen island and updated bathroom, have drastically increased the home's utility and value, making it an ideal space for modern living and entertaining.
