For this multi-area renovation, our team completed a full overhaul of the basement, new bathroom, and laundry area. What began as an outdated lower level with old vinyl flooring, dark wood paneling, and limited functionality was transformed through extensive demolition, structural preparation, new plumbing and electrical work, and high-quality finishes into a bright, modern, and fully optimized living space.
Renovation Details
Basement Demolition & Structural Preparation
All existing basement finishes—including vinyl flooring, wood paneling, damaged drywall, and old trim—were fully removed. The team inspected and repaired framing, addressed moisture-affected areas, and reconfigured wall cavities to support new electrical, plumbing, and insulation. The concrete slab was cleaned and leveled to prepare for new tile installation.
Drywall Replacement & Surface Reconstruction
New drywall was installed throughout the basement, replacing outdated wall materials. Moisture-resistant boards were used where needed. All seams were taped, mudded, sanded, and primed to achieve smooth, paint-ready surfaces that formed the foundation for the remodel.
Electrical Rewiring & Lighting Enhancements
Old wiring was replaced and new electrical lines were added. Additional recessed lighting was installed to brighten the space and eliminate dark areas common in basements. Updated switches and outlets were added for improved safety and usability.
Plumbing Installation for New Full Bathroom
Since the basement previously lacked a full bath, new plumbing rough-ins were completed. Trenches were cut into the slab to run drain lines for the toilet, shower, and vanity. New supply lines were installed, pressure-tested, and connected to the home’s main plumbing system before closing the walls.
Shower Construction, Waterproofing & Tile Installation
The new walk-in shower was built from the studs out—framing, cement board installation, shower pan construction, and full waterproof membrane application. After testing the waterproofing, the shower was tiled with elongated geometric marble tile. A built-in bench and recessed shelving were integrated, and modern fixtures including a handheld wand and shower head were installed.
Basement Flooring Preparation & Tile Installation
The concrete subfloor was leveled, patched, and treated with bonding agent before tile installation. Large ceramic tiles were installed throughout the basement, providing a durable, moisture-resistant, and easy-to-maintain flooring solution.
New Laundry Area Construction
The laundry zone was built from scratch with new plumbing connections, drain lines, and dryer venting. Custom upper cabinets and a pantry unit were added for extra storage. A built-in enclosure was constructed around the washer and dryer, supporting a new quartz countertop for convenient folding and workspace.
Cabinetry, Trim & Finish Carpentry
New shaker-style cabinets were installed in the laundry area, along with baseboards, door casings, and trim throughout the renovated space. All cabinetry was leveled, secured to properly reinforced framing, and finished with modern hardware.
Painting, Sealing & Final Surface Finishing
All new drywall was primed and painted in clean, neutral tones. Tile surfaces were sealed for durability. Final inspections were completed across plumbing, electrical, and waterproofing systems to ensure everything met current building standards.
Quality Materials & Long-Term Protection
Industry-standard waterproofing systems, high-grade tile adhesives, and premium construction materials were used throughout the project, ensuring long-lasting performance and reliable protection in all high-moisture areas.
