This staircase remodel completely redefined the home’s entryway, transforming an outdated, traditional staircase into a bright, modern architectural feature. The original red-oak stairs, bulky newel posts, heavy wall paneling, and dark handrails made the foyer feel narrow and dated.
Our goal was to create an open, contemporary look that blends clean lines, light finishes, and minimalist details — instantly elevating the overall aesthetic of the home.
What We Did
-
Removed old balusters, newel posts, and handrails to eliminate the heavy traditional look.
-
Reframed and rebuilt the entire staircase with updated proportions for a cleaner, more streamlined design.
-
Installed new white risers and natural light-oak treads for a Scandinavian-inspired contrast.
-
Added thin matte-black metal balusters, creating an open and modern visual flow.
-
Installed new custom square newel posts in light oak for a clean, minimalist appearance.
-
Sanded and refinished the surrounding hardwood floors for perfect color continuity.
-
Repainted the stairwell and hallway in bright white, maximizing light and visually enlarging the space.
-
Added modern wall paneling to elevate the architectural character.
-
Updated lighting and sightlines to ensure the staircase became a focal point as soon as you enter the home.
Result
The once-traditional staircase is now a sleek, modern centerpiece. Light wood tones, crisp whites, and black metal accents create a timeless look that blends seamlessly with the rest of the home. The entryway now feels brighter, wider, and significantly more contemporary.
