For this basement renovation, our team completed a full construction and finishing upgrade to transform an unfinished or outdated lower level into a fully functional, code-compliant living space with a built-in kitchenette. The project included framing, electrical work, drywall, flooring, ceiling finishing, and complete interior build-out.
Renovation Details
Framing & Layout Construction
New wall framing was completed to define the kitchenette area, open living space, hallway transitions, and support elements. Structural columns were framed and boxed to integrate them cleanly into the layout. Framing was also coordinated to accommodate soffits, mechanical systems, and ceiling transitions.
Drywall Installation & Wall Finishing
All walls and ceilings were finished with new drywall. The surfaces were fully taped, mudded, sanded, and prepared for paint. Corners, joints, and transitions were finished to provide straight, clean lines throughout the basement.
Ceiling Construction & Recessed Lighting
The basement ceiling was fully finished with drywall, including soffits where required to conceal HVAC ducting and utilities. Multiple recessed LED ceiling lights were installed to provide uniform, functional lighting across all areas.
Electrical Installation
New electrical wiring was installed throughout the basement, including outlets, switches, and dedicated circuits for the kitchenette appliances. All electrical work was completed to current code requirements.
Flooring Installation
The existing subfloor was prepared and leveled as needed, followed by installation of luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout the basement. New baseboards were installed to complete the flooring system and provide clean wall transitions.
Kitchenette Construction & Installation
The kitchenette was built and installed, including base cabinets, wall cabinets, and open shelving. A quartz countertop was installed along with an undermount sink and modern faucet. Plumbing connections were completed, and a stainless-steel refrigerator was installed.
Staircase & Access Area Finishing
The stairwell and access areas were fully finished, including wall surfaces, trim, and flooring transitions, ensuring a safe and visually consistent connection between the basement and upper levels.
Painting, Trim & Final Finishes
All walls, ceilings, trim, and architectural elements were primed and painted in neutral tones. Final detailing included installation of baseboards, door trim, and clean finish work, resulting in a fully completed and move-in-ready basement space.
